Newest 5 Star Review From PACIFIC BOOK REVIEW:
One of the most important components in a good children’s book is an adventure, and Savanna’s Treasure is a non-stop rollercoaster of excitement. The story’s protagonists – Shamba, the field mouse, and Kali, the baby elephant – face challenges they strive to overcome, from the very first page, to the very last...the two form an unusual friendship in their struggle to survive. Their individuality is refreshing...
What elevates this book is its educational value. Children will also be introduced to places like the elephant orphanage, and about how greatly over-taxed they are..it’s a story about perseverance, friendship, and not judging books by their cover."
...good fit for early readers...story enriched by an inspiring animal alliance." —Kirkus Reviews
"...filled with fun-facts!" —Writer's Digest
"As with any read (but especially true in a children's book), it's the protagonists that capture attention - and C. Behrens does a fine job of creating personable creatures that are engaging and fun. will relish this enchanting saga!" —Midwest Book Review, Diane Donovan

ABOUT ME

As a single-custodial father and full-time worker, I returned to school and earned my bachelor’s degree from Dominican College in May of 2010. I graduated with Honors in English and received the Mother Lawrence Marie Award for Academic Excellence. My unexpected love of writing was inspired by many professors at Dominican College.
I've been employed by the Borough of Woodcliff Lake in N.J. for many years. I am the public works manager for the town.
In my spare time, I continue to read, write, and spend time with two beautiful daughters.
I coached high school basketball for two high shools in N.J. for several years, and I continue to play hoops when I am not too tired.
Oh, and I love fro-yo & iced java!

Below are some pictures from an amazing school visit to the Warren Point School in NJ. The students and instructors were fully engaged and could not get enough of the story. Hope to do more of these events! Thank you Warren Point!
